POKOTABI / Yakiniku Stadium JAN
焼肉スタジアム JAN 池袋東口店
Just east of Ikebukuro Station, Yakiniku Stadium JAN serves signature thick-cut salted beef tongue, A5 Kuroge Wagyu kalbi cuts, sukiyaki-style briskets, and a lively lineup of sides and drinks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Laying thick slices of meat across the hot grill wire and waiting through curls of fragrant smoke is half the pleasure of yakiniku. At Yakiniku Stadium JAN, the first cut to look for is the signature thick-cut salted beef tongue. Sliced generously from the base of the tongue like a steak, it yields a firm, pleasant bite and fills the palate with rich, juicy flavor. Diners who prefer something lighter can contrast different textures by ordering the thinly cut salted beef tongue or flash-searing slices of salted heart.
The restaurant also features a comprehensive Kuroge Wagyu beef selection. Options range from A5 kalbi, known for its fine grain, gentle sweetness, and melt-in-the-mouth tenderness, to intercostal nakaochi kalbi packed with deep flavor from around the rib bones, and rare cuts like misuji (blade), which balances lean meat and fine marbling. Another indulgent option is the Kuroge Wagyu Buri-suki: thinly sliced shoulder clod flash-grilled rare, then dipped into beaten raw egg for a rich, sukiyaki-inspired bite.
Between grill rounds and toward the end of the meal, the kitchen provides a wide variety of side dishes and rice staples. Tender, slow-simmered beef tendon stew in a sweet-savory broth and sesame-oil-dressed munchu salad pair naturally with draft beer or an extra-fizzy Kakubin highball. To finish, hearty choices include comforting yukgaejang gukbap steeped in slow-simmered beef and vegetable soup, spicy and savory Jan Noodles, or refreshing chilled noodles.
Lunchtime brings casual combination sets such as Wagyu kalbi and skirt steak sets, while evening hours lend themselves to groups lingering over tasting courses and à la carte plates. Whether you want a satisfying midday treat or a relaxed dinner with friends, the restaurant accommodates varied appetites at an easy pace.
